Art of the Viewbook

Portraits of great institutions

The viewbook establishes personality, helps determine fit, and and generally acts— for perspective students and their parents—as a window into an institution’s character and a mirror of their own aspirations.

The viewbooks

Sarah Lawrence College

Now in it's fifth update for the 2020-21 academic year, the viewbook's journal-sized format and sewn binding exude academic rigor, while irreverant flourishes (including brightly colored drop caps, an exposed binding, and notable quotes run directly along the gutter) speak to Sarah Lawrence's creativly contrarian ethos.

My work for Sarah Lawrence included brand development, full suites of admissions and development materials, and the institutional website.

MassArt

Inclusivity, creativity, and an urban sensibilty define the MassArt ethos.

The accelerated explorations for this project focused on three visual interpretations of the diversity of activity, culture, and opinion that thrives on MassArt's urban campus.

Harvard College

Harvard's admissions materials must simultaneously project the College's stellar reputation for rigor and selectivity while communicating that Harvard is both welcoming and accessible to all deserving prospective students.

Olin College of Engineering

Speaking directly to prospective students' preconceptions about engineering education, Olin's admissions materials help define the college as a bold, entrepreneurial, and unconventional place that is also welcoming, dynamic, and fun.

Wesleyan University

Wesleyan's viewbook builds on extraordinary photography by Tom Kates to tell the story of a place committed to realzing and supporting students' journeys of discovery across often novel terrain. You + Wesleyan = Yes + And.

Vermont College of Fine Arts

VCFA's unique low residency model for graduate education in the arts provides working professionals time and space to make the development of their practice and career a central activity. The centrally radiating grid at the core of the VCFA identity—and the viewbook layout—helps prospective students see how VCFA puts their work and aspirations at the center.

Because of VCFA's all-graduate low-residency model, cohorts rarely interact across disciplines. Program-specific materials take on outsize importance.
